PLAY #214: SUN, FREEDOM, RUN (JULY 17)

Canada, a factory.

LIBERATORS snip tape dangling from the air, start to pack up solar panels.

WORKER looks on, confused.

WORKER

What’s going on?

LIBERATORS

We’re freeing trade.

WORKER

Okay. But why can’t we keep on making solar panels?

LIBERATORS

Violation of free trade agreements.

WORKER

But this place used to be an old car factory. We’ve hired lots of people. Supplying local energy, as much as can be done, it’s madness to be importing solar panels from around the world when you can make them here.

LIBERATORS

Not as if copper is growing outside is it? And that’s the way the market works.

LIBERATOR takes away the panels.

WORKER

Wait, you can’t take them all-

LIBERATORS

We can. You’re in violation of free trade agreements. We’re shutting you down.

LIBERATORS take away panels, singing about liberty.

WORKER sits on the empty floor.
